  1. I created an avi file awhile back and I wanted to convert it to SVCD for playback on my new DVD player. I followed the steps in the guide but when trying to encode using TMPGEnc the video halts but the audio continues.

I did a search on this forum and found that re-saving the AVI in VirtualDub might fix it. I tried that but during the re-save VirtualDub stops and says that it had encountered and error and that the source AVI might be corrupt.

When viewing the file on my computer using Windows Media Player I can watch the whole thing without problems. I have no way of creating another AVI file from the source (original tape was erased). Is there any way I can fix this corruption?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    *edit*
I just checked for bad frames and I didn't find a badframes.log file. I assume that this means that their aren't any bad frames. Thoughts?

  2. Thanks Baldrick. After some additional digging I found this URL which explained that a newer codec is available which skips through bad frames(http://www.moviecodec.com/mb/topic.php?tid=867). Problem solved.

    Thank you,
