  1. I read some post about some being relunctant to using the IC burn engine.
Other than wanting to see what your results are, is there any other reason not to?

  2. i've tried them all!!! let me tell you. IC is good, bad, and ugly. it's all three of those. but then again you have idiots out there who'll defend dvd nine to five as the best and knock everything else down, and lest we forget the dvd two one fans too. look ic is good because it's simple- very user friendly and you get very good playback on many films. the other advantage of ic is that the movies that come out of it has all menus and special features options ( and they at times look good to ) and it's compatible with MANY dvd players out in the market ( although now a days every dvd player is dvd-/+ r compliant but the older ones still have problems with dvd-r's and even some +r's ). so whats the best option here-- learn the hard way, figure out how to use TMPGenc., REmpg, CCE, smart ripper, dvd decrypter, dvd2avi, IFOedit, ETC......etc.... learn how to make a back up from scratch, and then everything else will be easy. plus you'll know then if ic is good or worse than any other software.

  3. oh and by the way the bad things of ic are the following. i've found that if a movie has both the widescreen and fullscreen option on a one sided disc, ic many times ( not all ) will of course do it's job and try to fit everything down to 4.68GB or less. so the pictures in both the widescreen and full can look pretty bad, especially in dark scenes, it looks like the screen is pixalizing. but that's not with all the movies. now normal movies with just wide or full on one side of the disc usually doe'snt cause a problem. now if you run into the problem of having both wide and full on one side of the disc, use decrypt. and find the full and wide and choose which one you want to use.( use dvd2avi to find aspect ratio ) then ifo it ( just the movie, no menus or options ).

  4. TDogger,

Interesting observations. My question was concerning the burn engine.
I've noticed that a lot of people use Pinnacle InstantCopy to do the work and then burn it with another burning software. I don't have a problem with IC doing it's job but since it authors image files i leave it alone and burn it with IC which happens to be or was part of VOB instant cd/dvd that i use for all my other burning needs. Never had a problem
After all VOB Instant CD/DCD is one of the best burning Software

If you use VOB Instant CD/DVD, InstantCopy is there. I've never tried to use it. When i installed Pinnacle InstantCopy it took away that part from VOB Instant CD/DVD.
