  1. I have 3 DivX movies in Pal format that i want to convert to NTSC. My DVD player plays either but my TV only likes NTSC So if anyone has come up with a fool proof method of doing this I'd appreciate an explanation or tutorial. Thxs! ( if you can provide links where possible that would be great as well )

    3, Click Start
    4, load mpeg into VCD burn program

    5, um oh yes watch movie...

  3. Yeah right, wish it was that easy you do that and the VCD loses horizontal sync , the tv will show the movie all messed up in the top third of the screen, sound comes out fine, but no picture, has anyone actually done a PAL to NTSC conversion and succeded?

    Yes using the above, never had the problem you discribed

    Maybe you should use Vdub and a resize filter or something

  5. What version of TMPGenc are you running? Maybe the problem lies therein...

  6. ive never used it, but isnt the 3:2 pull-down used to defeat the problem he's describing? maybe not...

    anyways.. there are several ways to convert said movie. im very surprised that letmeinforgodsake's method doesnt work for you. maybe you have an interlace setting afu.

    my personal method consists of this... load divx, resize to 350x240, leave frame rate at 25fps, encode. works fine on all encoded movies thus far. if youre using nero u may have to turn off the compliancy check, for some reason some of my encodes require that, and others dont. im currently using version "j", but this has worked with the last 3 releases as well.

    also, is your final product crappy on your pc, or only on your dvd player? maybe you should consider this. and if you include all of your settings when loading stuff into tmpgenc, we might be able to figure out why youre encoded file has probs.

    maybe this helped. maybe not...

    Hi

    Video-CD PAL (MPEG-1 352x288 25fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

    Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

    These are the VCD settings, when you say your Divx is PAL, what are the current settings, The only diffrence is the frame rate and frame size, they should easily convery with TMPGEnc without any problems, I have converted lots..

    I got a feeling its more than just a frame size diffrence, is the PAL a;

    Super Video-CD PAL (MPEG-2 480x576 25fps CQ 65, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

    If you load into Vdub and select a resize filter, does it look ok on the right hand pane ?
