I just updated tmpegenc to 2.59.47.155 and it is a definte step up for the old version but I cant get the audio from the avi to load up in audio source box ...when I load up the avi in the video source box it loads fine but does not load up in the audio source box like it normally does...when i click the audio source box to load the avi manually it says "can not open or unsupported"...I have never really had a problem with any of my converters and I have tried playing with the environmental settings but no dice......so when i go to convert it converts damn good but just with no audio...any tips?????
thanks to all that reply!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this an AVI that you had no problems with, with your previous TMPGEnc version?
What audio codec was used when the AVI was created? Do you have that codec?
GSpot will tell!

im sure that with the previous version would convert it(just click the video source button and both the video and audio would come up in both the audio and video source areas) but for some reason the audio wont load up with the video. the audio is encoded with the video and should in theory load up like with all older versions of tmpegenc......

That was not an answer to my question!im sure that with the previous version would convert it
I was wondering if you actually have successfully loaded both audio and video in TMPGEnc from this specific file.
No, it's not. In an AVI the video is encoded using a video encoder, the audio is encoded using some audio encoder. These two streams are then interleaved to make up an AV file (Audio Video Interleaved). That TMPGEnc can decode the video part of an AVI doesn't at all imply that it also can decode the audio. The audio may be in raw PCM, MP3, AC3, OGG or a number of other formats.the audio is encoded with the video

Exokutioner: You probably need an audio codec. If you get Gspot from the Tools section you can test your file and see. As well, you should probably be converting the audio from your avi into a wav file and using that in TMPGEnc. Are you using an external audio encoder? You should install Toolame and set TMPGEnc to use it. Jsut a couple of tips!
