I am new to making (S)VCD's. Becaus I only have a P133 (please don't laugh) I am starting to assemble parts for a new computer.

So far I have been able to obtain a P3 866. Thats all the processor I could afford.

Could some of you give my some recomendations as to the better motherboards that I sould get.

For some reason I have a feeling this is going to turn into a intel is better than0 amd thing, but im not to sure about intel type motherboards, but your best bet for now is to get a pc chips ( I think) because they have everything on them (video sound moden) and they are fairly cheap, The best no. But will do for now.

  3. I have a TYAN motherboard that has worked well for all things video. One piece of advice I have though is this: don't buy an ABit motherboard! They are well known and popular, but the model I owned really stunk. It was an ABit BP-6. The problem with it was the "HighPoint" brand hard drive controller built into it. The BIOS of the controller had numerous bugs, and the whole system would frequently lock up during heavy disc activity (which you will certainly have if you are working with video). Good luck!
