I just want to convert some AVI files to MPEG2 to make a SVCD with. Should be simple right? Check the AVI's are good, run 'em thru TMPGenc plus using the standard template and there you go - job done. Not happening - they are encoding alright but seem to be playing back faster than they should - easily noticed in the audio. What the heck is going on here? I can encode them as MPEG1 no problem. I can even encode using the PAL DVD template and the file is fine. I have tried AV files from my JVC DV cam and from analog captures. I have tried QT files from other sources. Same story. The gear I am using is a follows:
Athlon XP2000
Soyo KT333
2 x BarraCuda IV 40 gb
1gb Samsung PC2700
Matrox G550
Decoder is Matrox Cineplayer. I suspected that this may be the culprit but it seems to play back real DVDs fine
I should mention that I just tried it on my other PC, a lowly Athlon 650 - same results. I am UK based so all settings both in and out are PAL/25fps.
Any help appreciated - this is driving me nuts.
