i'm using divx 5.02 and i'm trying to find some good settings to get 2 hours in 700 MB so i can fit it on one CD. i know its possible to get good quality like that, i have many DVD rips that are 700 megs and have excellent quality. i'm aware that these are 2 or more pass encoded, but i'm trying to encode some videos with at least comparable quality. i have a leadtek TV2000XP and use their winfast PVR software to capture. i just want to be able to capture in one pass and get some decent quality.
i'm using a 550 bitrate, with my advanced settings at default, except for the RC averaging period at 27000 frames (15 min) and the RC reaction to 25, instead of 20. however, the quality isnt that great at all, and it gets pretty blocky when theres high motion. i have the psychovisual elements to normal, and the keyframes set to 120 frames. these settings give me a good 175MB/30min which is pretty much exactly what i want, but like i said, the quality isnt too great. any suggestions on how to get better quality? ive seen these tables which tell me to use around a 700 bitrate, but that goes WAY over target.
oh yes, i'm using the mp3 codec, which at these settings are about 7k/sec. thanks
