  1. Hi, my first post
What is the best way to convert dvd-svcd ?
I use dvdx and compress to 1800 bitrate and good motion search setting.
I think the quality sucks when I watch the movies on my TV, is there any better prog to use that will give me better quality but same size (mb)?
100 min must fit on 2 cd, with 1800 bitrate I get about 1600mb with 100mins, which fits on 2 cd.
Or doesn't it get better with that bitrate ?

    Thanks for your help.

  3. what do you mean by the quality sucks?
I dont know whether you are being really critical over a good SVCD, or made a crappy one, that could be improved.

How does it compare to standard VHS?

  5. Yes, worse than vhs. Sometimes it looks like an overcompressed jpg.

Use DVD2SVCD. Run it overnight (unless you have CCE). Quality is as good as you want it ( you can control most of the factors, including number of CDR's and some bitrates ). I have some SVCD's that you are hard pressed to tell from the original DVD ( on a 27" TV ).
