  1. Hey, I guess this is the place to post this. I have a file that I downloaded and I have to play through the whole movie to see parts that I want, because I can't skip on the play bar.

Is there a way to fix this? If so how?

    Thanks

  2. Well, I guess it's most likely an AVI file, so I'll go ahead on that assumption.

What I do when this happens is open up Virtualdub, click file, then open, and make sure you check "Popup extended open options" before double clicking on the file you want to open. After you choose the file that needs to be fixed, you'll get the extended open options dialogue box, make sure you check "Re-derive keyframe flags" before continuing, the rest of the options can be left at their default settings.

After the scanning and processing is finished (this might take a long time) BEFORE YOU CLOSE VDUB make sure you choose audio-direct stream copy and video-direct stream copy and then choose file-save as AVI, choose a name for the new movie and let 'er rip. When this operations is complete, you can delete the original file and you are done!

    Hope this helps,

    Prospero
