    Hi guys

    help needed

we all know that if a movie is 4.7GB or under, then rip the main movie files, and IFOEDIT to sort it out to go one disc, so when you pop it in your standalone, the movie just kicks in ...

but what if you want one of the little "trailers" at the start ?? you know the kind of thing, one of the Dolby Digital ads, or the THX thing ... just before the movie ?? anyone know how to do this ??

    many thanx

It's obviously possible and in some cases (with some authoring programs) quite easy.

The crude way to insert the splash movie is to concatenate it with the main one. That way it plays before the main movie.

After a while you get bored and want to skip it. For that, you need to be able to set chapter points (if it has been concatenated) or skip to the next title (if the splash movie and the main title have been authored as two titles).

What authoring s/w do you use? It may be the limiting factor in your options.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  3. If the DVD is a 5 (under 4.7GB), then keeping the original menu structure (ie make an exact clone of the original) would be preferable to what you are asking, wouldnt it?

i hear you guys .... here is what i do

DVD is a DVD5, just make an ISO image and copy the movie

DVD is DVD9, but movie is under 4.7G, just strip the movie, use IFOEDIT then NERO to burn it

DVD is DVD9 and movie is over 4.7, just rip the movie, use DVD2ONE, and remove audio tracks and subtitles etc, can usually get it on one disc

    i use

    DVD-Decrypter
    IFOEDIT
    DVD2ONE
    NERO

  5. I'm no expert but if your using ifoedit I think the only way is to incorperate it into begining of the movie, that is merg it with the movie mpeg. If you use something like maestro add it as Movie2 then make a playlist setting movie2 first the movie1 chapter1 and so forth. Then when you pick play it will play the preview then go on to the main movie, but if you wanna skip the preview just hit the skip fwd button on your remote.
