  1. 1. i have some wmv. files and they show quite nice full screen in windows media player. so i wondered if they would show the same on a television, or would it show worse?

    2. what if i used a digital camcorder to film a few events, basketball games, and soccer games. how long would the process take to make a dvd of these recordings.

    3. how painful would it be, and what would the quality be like?

hey all help would be very appreciated

If the wmv's play well, then they can be converted to an equally good MPEG-2 for DVD. Use a tool like ASF Tools or Stoik converted to make AVIs and then an MPEG-2 encoder, like Tmpgenc or Mainconcept or CCE.

Same thing with the digital camera recordings. The quality you should expect is higher than captured VHS but lower than studio DVD. Again, one of the above encoders is needed.

To author the DVD you need an authoring program. The simplest I would suggest to look at is ULEAD DVD Workshop, although quite a few others exist. Avoid some program like DVDIt or MyDVD, that impose stupid restrictions on bitrate and audio and end-up fitting up to 1 hour on a DVD.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
