  1. I have seen the files encoded in ASF format do takes up less space ... my first question is that ... how can we see the properties of an ASF file (means that ... at what rate it was encoded and bit rate etc etc)

    2nd question is that ... can we convert AVI/DAT formats into ASF format? if so can someone tell me the software used for it ... it would be wonderful or any link suggesting how ASF encoding is done ... since I am totally new to this ...

    You could use VirtualDub 1.3c to show the properties of an ASF file.
