  1. Hi, I am encoding a soundtrack I made for my home movie into 5.1 audio. I created the mix using acid pro 4. I have a question about the settings in my ac3 encoder.

What does the BANDWIDTH LOW PASS FILTER and the LFE LOWPASS FILTER do to the sound ? Do they remove all the bass frequencies ? I have enabled these settings before in the past but the bass output on my theatre system seemed lacking.

If anyone has any info on these settings and whether or not I should enable them, please let me know.
    Thanks,

  2. Low-pass filters eliminate frequencies above a level of your choosing (they allow frequencies *lower* than this level to *pass*).

They are usually used for removing sibilance and hissing. If you have sibilant and/or hissy audio, experimenting with the LPF in the 6-12KHz range might be beneficial.
