    When I try to encode an avi file it comes up write error bla!! bla!!
    but file plays alright in windows media player.
    Any help please as it's doing my head in.

    Need to post more info, like what version TMPG and so on. I have found that the newer versions of TMPG give me errors and fits with some AVI's , most of which are DIVX, if you are using newer version that could be your problem, I like using older 2.57. Try it. Also dont forget to get all your file info, by opening avi in g spot.

    I use TMPGEnc Plus 2.57 also. I think it's the best version of TMPGEnc!!! :P

    Yes, by all means use 2.57. It does all I need. Never an error.

    Of course, I'll see some now that I write this, but had to tell you anyway.

    Maybe the file is corrupt. Find a repair program. Just because it plays does not mean it's not bad.

    the link at doom9 points to TMGenc website which v2510 can be dwnloaded. no v2.57
