When I first hook up the ADVC100 to my VCR to capture video from my vcr from a tape, are there any drivers I need to install first for both for ADVC100 and my firewire card?
The unit didn't seem to come with anything at all.
The reason I'm asking because I'm still having problems capturing. The preview that shows up on my laptop is not like how it is on tv. The video has blocks scattered all over the page and when I capture, all the frames are dropped and the sound is horrible. I don'tk now why![]()

If you have the appropriate firewire and windows capture drivers loaded, then it should just autodetect and fire up. If not, it will ask for your Windows disk. If nothing happens you may not have the appropriat operating system. What OS are you running under?

Just wondering if you've contacted Canopus directly... they seem like one of the few outfits that might actually provide decent phone technical support. I called them with some pre-sale questions, and they were very helpful.

Does the tape have a macrovision protection on it? If so all you need to do is hold down the "Input select" button down for 15 seconds or so and the ADVC-100 will "filter" the input signal.
