  1. I am a DJ and use a JVC VCD Player. I want to create an advert VCD to play on the big screen in the pub that i work in to advertise what's on. It'll need to be about 5 or 6 pages long and each page will need to change after about 15 secs or so. On the pages i just want text with perhaps a still picture - that's it . I have adapted easy cd creator 4 deluxe which will create VCD's but i think i need some software to create the pages first- please could you help me?

  2. Easy CD Creator is not the program to do it -- it doesn't support high-resolution still images.

VCD2.0 (the standard) supports high resolution still images and these are what you need to get the job done. You can do it with a proggy like VCDImager. As your project is so simple, VCD Toolkit may be easier to use as it comes with a GUI and the learning curve is a little less steep.

Both the above mentioned programs are free.

If you search the forums, you will find a lot of help on both programs.

Why not create your own movie with fade out, flip, scrolling text and a whole lot more. Use a simple program like "Animation Shop 3" this comes with Paint Shop Pro. http://www.jasc.com Make your image the same size as a VCD image. When you have made your master piece, save it as an AVI.

Then use TMPGEnc to convert to a VCD.mpg (add some music at the same time)

Load into Easy Cd Creator (Vcd Creator) and Burn.

  4. Well, one reason why that wouldn't be a good idea is that he wants to display still screens. Standard VCD resolutions is just hopeless if you want to display clear, sharp images on a TV (e.g., he may have TEXT on some of those images).

Still images are much better for this task.

    "15 secs or so."

I have recorded my digital photos onto VCD each one is displayed for 10 seconds or so before it fades out or wipes into the next.

I do think its a good idea and the pictures are very good quality as it the text displayed whether scrolled or fixed.

Since the source quality is good there is nothing wrong with the mpeg quality at all

  6. Don't forget no reason not to make an xVCD at 720x480. Take a look at:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/VCDslideshow.htm

And the other ways to make a VCD Slide show under the Author link to the left.

Well one of the reasons for recommending "Animation Shop 3" is its ease of use.

Load a picture into it and make that frame 1, load another picture and make that frame 2.

You can now use the image transitions to move from one frame to the next (Page curl) perhaps. The settings are easy even the transition can be set for 15 seconds total.

    JOB DONE.....

When you have done with those 2 pictures save as AVI and make another, perhaps with some scrolling text.

    Save the second AVI

You will enjoy viewing the effects and transitions, but don't need to work on the whole movie at one time, you could make another VCD with just some of what you already did and add some new ones.

I am sure that after 15 minuets with that program you will soon work out how to size the frame to be the same as a VCD frame size and a whole lot more.

Then when your ready to make up the VCD, add all your AVI's together with Vdub and test play > save as AVI, then use TMPGenc to make the VCD.mpeg adding sound with it at the same time.

    Vid > yourmovie.avi
    Sound > yoursong.avi
load template > PAL or NTSC VCD
