  1. I have never used Daemon Tools before but i'm experimenting with some other methods to backup DVD's and I need Daemeon tools, at least for the short term. When I installed version 3.29.00, which is the most current version, my system started to install the program and then just quickly restart. When I got back to my desktop, I got a message saying that my system has recovered from a serious error.

Daemon Tools was NOT fully installed, so I figured I would delete the partial install and reinstall it again. This time it FULLY installed, however, when I got back to my desktop, I received the SAME message saying "your system has recovered from a serious error." Does anyone know why this may of occurred and has anyone else had this issue with Daemon Tools? Thanks in advance for any info on this.

  2. I'm running xp and the new version of daemon tools gives me exactly same error messages.. something in xp it doesn't like I guess. My other system is win98se and this version of daemon tools works just fine no errors. I then completely uninstall 3.29 and installed the older version can't remember the number at the moment but that one seems to work fine. also try Alcohol 120% It is similiar to daemon tools but I like it better and works fine w/o problems..

  3. hi johnjohn, I researched this more and the author of Daemon Tools understands it's an issue, although the new version is supposed to have this problem occur much less frequently. Looks like we weren't one of the fortunte ones. Anyway, I will try Alocohol 120%, there was a link for it from Daemon tools I believe.

  4. I've had big problems with daemon tools 3.29 and the latest Alcohol 120%. Both caused my XP system to restart during boot . I tracked the error down to the Virtual SCSI driver and the PnP BIOS extension drivers. Disabling either of these (via safe mode) in device manager allows XP to boot normally but doesn't fix the problem. Here are 2 solutions I've found that work for me:

    #1 For Alcohol 120% and Daemon 3.29
If you have a Santa Cruz sound card and a K7S5A mobo, then disable the onboard game Port in the mobo bios. This causes conflict with the PnP driver and causes the reboot. Once the game port is disabled, both programs work fine.

    #2 Daemon Tools only
Install Damon 3.23. This does'nt have the driver conflict.
