  1. Hi there,

Not sure what is going on. I've done the VCD header trick before and it worked great, but now...

I had a movie in DIVX format. I converted it to SVCD using TMPGEnc. No problem, looks great.

Then, when I try the VCD header trick it completely blitzes the file. It corrupts the video (audio is still okay).

What the heck is going on?

    Please help!

  3. I never had any problems using the VCD-Header trick.
The SVCD files I used are created using DVD2SVCD with TMPGEnc.
Even DIVX movies I converted with DVD2SVCD & TMPGenc to SVCD.

All my files always displayed properly on my stand-alone DVD player.

Did You use the correct settings for SVCD In TMGEnc when you do your encoding ?
Is the video also corrupted on your computer or only on your standalone ?

If its looks good on your computer but bad in your your standalone, then check if the bitrate is not to high and also if the movie is Pal or NTSC . some standalone can not play NTSC-film correctly (or otherwise), on some of these you can choose in your dvd-menu to deselect the auto option for selecting Pal or Ntsc & force the player one of them .

Else I would not know what te problem is .

    greetings

  4. Thanks for the reply.

The original DIVX file is NTSC, and I converted it properly to NTSC SVCD using TMPEG. This must be true because the new MPEG works fine on my computer.

Then, I do the VCD header trick. The resulting MPEG file has corrupt video and is unplayable on the computer AND the dvd player.

Is there some other way to convert my SVCD to a VCD header besides TMPEG? Maybe that would do the trick? I would hate to have to convert toa true VCD because, well, ya know it doesn't look great.

Anyone ever have this happen? As I said before, I've done the VCD header trick with other movies and never had it corrupt them.

    Thanks

  5. The only thing that came out in my mind is try to reencoded the divx again with dvd2svcd . select by misc that an avi is your source.

I had some trouble once in a while where I needed to reencode the movie cause of different little errors .
Maybe on the second time you'll heve more luck.

Or try to reencode to a XVCD (VCD with higher bitrate) with a bitrate that is the same like your SVCD . The result can then sometimes be equal to the quality of an SVCD
