  1. Are stand alone DVD players compatible with MP4? If not, is there an easy way to convert it to a DVD player friendly format?
You give a man a fish, that man knows where to go for fish. You teach a man to fish, you've just destroyed your market base.

No. MPEG-4 is the basis for Divx(tm) video (aka. 4, 5 not 3); Xvid; 3ivx...etc.

It is easier to transcode to another MPEG-2 for DVDs unless your stand alone is compatible with MPEG-4 (KiSS for example can play Divx avi's but it is not compatible with .mp4 containers...

  3. Nice job, Thargok. I've been playing around with it and I'm impressed with the result. Good speed. Great de-interlacing -- now I'm going to have to re-do a couple dozen encodes I did with Diva w/o de-interlacing.

I can't get audio encoding to work, though. Is it already implemented, or is it forthcoming?

Also, do you plan to implement the ability to input elementary streams?

I don't think Thargok wrote it, unless Makira == Lil == Thargok.

As for deinterlacing...well, word on the street is that deinterlacing will very likely be in next version of DiVA.

It is not my work so I cannot take any credit.

I can however answer your question...the audio is aac encoded (assuming your vob has audio).

If you have problems with audio, you may want to deselect any audio that you don't want while ripping.
