I have checked out a few more things.

I am capturing for authoring on DVD and the settings are set as such in the capture section of Movie Factory 2.

When I playback the DVDs (all versions) I do not see the horizontal lines in the freeze frame test. However I see something a bit more unusual. When there is movement ie: someone's arm and hand moving upwards in the frame, when you move from frame to frame it jumps. In other words, the frozen image looks good. When you advance to the next frame, the hand jumps up higher for a split second and then comes back down a little bit to rest where the frame is frozen and once again looks good. This happens for each frame advance until the hand stops moving. When there is little or no movement, this jumping is not evident on the frame by frame advance.

I wil be installing the Pinnacle equipment tomorrow at the church and I will give everyone an update as to the effectiveness of it tomorrow night.

  2. Maybe this is the problem I'm seeing.

I did one DVD with all chapters encoded with Studio 7 (3500kbps CBR video, 224kbps audio), which plays fine. The second one I had to encode one chapter (out of 3 in the same track) with TMPGEnc, matching the bitrates. On that DVD, the chapter done with TMPGEnc seems to have this effect. It plays fine with PowerDVD. I can't use Studio 7 for the time being since I had to wipe my PC clean and that's the only software package I can't find the original CD for. I just used the TMPGEnc wizard to set the bitrates. I'll have to look at this more closely.
