  1. Hey everyone....... I am needing some help in view a movie file.... Initially I had a friend send me a movie file in a TAR format and I burned it to disk via a CD-R and can not get it to view through any means (both via my computer or stand alone DVD player's), so I could use some help. Please be gentle and nice for I am new to this type of stuff. Below I listed out the directories that are on the questionable disk, also I listed the sub-files below each:

    -EXT
    scandata.dat
    -Mpeg2
    Avseq01.mpg
    Avseq02.mpg
    -Segment
    -Svcd
    Entries.svd
    Lot.svd
    Info.svd
    Psd.svd
    Search.dat
    Tracks.svd

My question is does this have to be burned via a DVD writer???? If not, how do I go about viewing it on a stand-alone dvd player???? What or how can I view it on my computer, meaning will it play via a certain viewer or version of viewer????

    Thanks for your help...........

VCD and SVCD are burned on CD's, don't need a DVD burner. Will your standalone play SVCD? You need to look that up. To play on computer you will need an MPEG 2 decoder. You can use WinDVD or PowerDVD to play the MPEG 2 Files. The files are in the Mpeg2 dir, Avseq01.mpg and Avseg02.mpg these are the files you need to play.

Not all stanalones will play SVCD. Like I said you will need to look up your player to see if it will play SVCD's. Look to your left under DVD Players.
May the force be with you.
