I have converted an avi file using tmpgenc and the authered it with IFOEdit. But when i preview the dvd the sound plays at normal speed and the images are going about 4 times faster.
Does anybody know where i am going wrong?

Yes, I have experenced this. Are you multiplexing a WAV (or uncompressed audio) with the video? Try multiplexing a compressed mpeg2 audio with your video. That's what I have to do to prevent that very odd fast playback.

Encode the audio as a mpeg2 (*.mp2) and then select that under the audio portion in IFOEdit. What you can do is encode the file using tmpgenc or what ever you use. Then demultiplex it and you will get the video stream and the audio stream. Then select those in IFOEdit when you "author" it.
