the local computer store has a 50-50 chance of being able to help..

  2. hey, just an update, so far my comp is working and has yet to freeze, what i did was oppened error checking scan in properties/tools of the C: drive, i ran the error checking scan and selected automaticly fix errors and such, then i had to restart my comp then when my comp started the scan took a little more than an hour!!! Now after this error scan, i have yet to recieve a freeze, i hope that i fixed it. Also i set both my dvd-rw on master end of ide 2, and dvd-rom on slave end of ide 2 both on cable select, and both drives work fine, just a little slower when both are used at the same time, that is all!!! I will keep an update if my problem has been solved or not!!

One last thing, i emailed hp support and have yet to recieve even a reply, I hope they can reply so i can see thier prospective of the problem!!!

  4. I want to add that when i have my computer on it's side(computer horizontal) that i have yet to recieve a freeze!!! When i have the computer at normal position(virtical) then i recieve the freeze often! Example, i was tryng to burn a music cd-r with nero, i had the computer virtical and tried to burn the same cd twice, and both the times i had this freeze at the same exact point when making th cd. Now when i tried to burn the same exact cd, i had the computer on it's side(horizontally) and the computer didn't freeze at all!!! Now could it be a power problem? Loose Wiring? What can it be!!! This is really a big problem now!!!!!!!

Could you be having heat problems? Maybe you're getting a better airflow when your computer is on the side versus vertical. It's a longshot I know but if your CPU is getting too hot that could cause your computer to freeze until it cooled off.

  6. that can be a possibility, but then again, i can just turn on my computer and it would freeze when i run programs at times!! This is a very disturbing problem!!!!!
