  1. I using Kworld T256 or Provideo to perform real time capture from VHS to VCD format. There is no drop frames and sound sync problems. But the color seems to be very "unstable" (sorry I'm newbie, dunno the techincal term). The color keep on flickering. But this problem only exist in MPG-1 format. The SVCD and DVD (mpg-2) format is very desirable.
Can anyone give me a hints ? Really apprecitated. Thx.

P/S: I using the provideo driver instead of Kworld driver, much stable.

    Hi,

You have a couple of options:

    1. Capture in MPEG2 and then convert to MPEG1 using a tool like TMPGEnc (Check the excellent guides in this site)

    2. Try the recommendations that "Kevin Killers" and "Ian Norman" have posted at Provideo Multimedia – 256 forum at http://www.iln.com.au/forum/viewforum.php?f=1

Untill more information is found you can try Kevin Killers suggestion about using the controls in the SDK app.
    This is what to do.
    1) Download this http://www.iln.com.au/downloads/pv256sdk.zip
    2) Unzip to a new directory
    3) Run the PV256 app and set it up for composite input
    4) Now run the mpegcap.exe from your new directory
    5) Select "PCI Props"
    6) Select I2C Dialog
    7) The second entry is Sub Address and should read 0A
Toggle that entry to select 0E and select read. The register value should now read 89
    9) Toggle the register value to 81 and select write

This should now select the correct PAL settings.
You can then encode as you would normally do and the flashing of colours should be gone.
If you close the pv256 app and restart it you will have to reselect subaddress 0E and select 81 in the register value field.
The PV256 app will reset to default values every time it starts.

If the file mpegcap.exe in the pv256sdk.zip does not work then you will have to download the full SDK from provideo http://www.provideo.com.tw/driver/PV-256C/SDK/PV-256SDK.exe
    and install the program.
Review the whole topic for additiona options

    Otto.
