  1. Hi, I want to buy a dv or d8 camcorder which has av passthrough. I`ve read good things about the sony range, so that is the make I think I will go for. (unless persuaded otherwise).Basically my needs are passthrough, usb streaming for webcam use, low light use, tbc, 800,000plus pixels, still picture would be good but not as important.Sony have such a range that I am getting confused in choosing the right one. This camcorder has to be sub £500 in the UK.
Can anyone give me advise or point me to a web site that gives me a comparison of the models with the features that I want.
    TIA Disastermaster.

  2. The Sony TRV-25 is a good choice and has a passthrough feature.

Try the following link, from the Sony website:

    http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_Compare-All;s...sAAADz1VUTluHA

They probably have a similar DV side-by-side comparison.

  5. thanks for the info. Is the TRV-25 the same as the TRV-250 (UK spec)
I`ve looked on the link in the previous post and it says that the TRV-250 does not have passthrough???? I keep getting conflicting info on the Sony range. Basically I need a sub £500 unit which has passthrough, usb streaming and dv in/out.

As for the previous D8 series, the TRV-340, 740, and 840 had pass-through, and I believe the 140 and 240 did not -- sounds like this equates to the latest '50s models (though definitely fewer models to choose from). I have the 740, and have been using pass-through successfully. I was going to purchase the 340 since it also has pass-through, but I couldn't find it for much less than the 740.

  7. The TRV-25 is a miniDV camcorder. I have read in other posts that the TRV-25e (the "e" stands for europe) has a passthrough feature and DV in and DV out.

The TRV-250 is a digital 8 camcorder. In North America, the TRV-350 has a passthrough feature (but the TRV-250 doesn't).

  8. I heared that it is harder to get camcorder with passthrough in Europe. Be aware of that..... People that writes here are from all around the world and same model in EU can have different features. Some of them are just blocked in EU to decrease price.
