My SONY DVP-S336 wont play cdr's the message 'no disc' would come up, but when i tried a sony cd-rw it will play just fine.

So i thought all cd-rw's would work so i bought some Memorex cd-rw but i now get the same message with these.

I dont understand how one cd-rw will play and another wont

  2. Your player should play both see here https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=DVP-S336+&Search=Search&Submit2=Search

Maybe make sure your files are are in a VIDEO_TS folder and that the disc is closed or finalized.

Im not having trouble with Sony CD-RWs ive since found out(10coasters later) that CD-R's dont work and now Memorex CD-RW's dont work either but checking your DVD guide i see that Vertibrim CD-RW will work also

    What do you mean 'VIDEO_TS'

  5. If you're making a copy of a DVD you should put all the files into a VIDEO_TS (just create one) then burn that folder This is what a DVD player looks for on any DVD movie.

From what I understand, CD-RW's are closest to commercially produced CD's so it is no surprise that RW's work and R's won't. As well, in a thread on bad media, Memorex CD-RW's were widely reported to be very unreliable. I had some myself.

ManWithaPlan was asking about CDR(w) compatibility for his sony player, he never mentioned DVD r's. VIDEO_TS has absolutley nothing to do with (S)VCD which is what you usually find on CDR media w.r.t video
