Sony DV Capture Question

I use Ulead VS 6.02 and 7 to capture dv via firewire using my Sony TRV350. I try to select AVI but it automatically changes the setting to DV Type 1. Is this normal? How should I capture DV via firewire? If I choose MPEG, it stays that way.

DV avi is the correct setting. You should be capturing in DV avi. Selecting mpeg will give you a real time conversion to mpeg. This results in lesser quality but also works.
