I have yet to make chapters on a VCD but I believe I will be soon. I am currently researching this topic but would like to know the answer to one nagging question I have:

Do the chapters NEED to be in a specific order or can I make them at any point in the VCD?

My reason is: I will be converting VHS-C tapes of my kids since I started taping them about 10 years ago. The tapes I have, have all sorts of different sections (Zoo trip, vacation, Bdays etc...) BUT there is no specific start time for each section. The Bdays are, for example, 30 minutes, the zoo trip 45 minutes, BUT they are not the same times on all of the tapes I have. Year 1 could be the above times BUT Year 2 could be completely different times.

All of the info I have seen as of now looks like I need a specific time for a chapter to be added. If this is untrue, that is the answer I am looking for.

Thanks for any AND all help!

Get VCDEasy. It is great and simple to use. Let's you have almost total control over how the disc plays back.

Thanks for the replies! They are/were what I was looking for! I have tried to use VCDEasy in the past but I was unable to burn the VCD with my CD-RW. I believe it was due to the drivers/software used to access the drive.

From what I have found out about VCDEasy, can I create the files needed for a VCD and then burn them with Nero?

Also, one other EASY question: I have a couple of PVR software apps I plan on trying out. My first one will be WinDVD. Has anyone had any experience with this app and if so, how was the quality?

    Thanks again,

P.S. I have taken a quick look through the guides for creating a VCD with Chapters but I was unable to find a guide for Newbies. That is, a guide for making a VCD with Chapters for the first time. If anyone has a link for it that would be awesome too!

    Thanks again,

    Regarding the NERO thing,
When you hit GO in VCDEasy it produces an image of the VCD. When it has finished open NERO ans select File\Burn Image.
I think you then select "NEW".
A browse window opens so you can find the image (bin file) that VCDEasy created. Select this then click Write.
I was a newbie but found the guides ok to use. I'm not sure of guide links at the moment.

Thanks again for the info! That's what I thought it was, make the image with VCDEasy THEN burn it with Nero.

    Thanks again!
