well, 300 bucks on a dvd burner and guess what? the software SUCKS!

i have become pretty good at encoding thanks to my large abmount of experience with MPEG1 VCDs... and i find encoding DVDs in MPEG2 is very similar so i can encode just fine.

    now as for software:
my burner came with: arcsoft showbiz dvd! POS!!! its not even that easy...

i also tried DVD moviefactory (which i used for VCD making, excellent for VCDs) and that is pretty good for DVDs. its easy to make nice menus and chapters with it and also supports background menu music. but it doesnt have a mode which i can use to make a picutre gallery (of stills). also it doesnt convert audio to dolby digital (i think...)

then at this website, i learned about DVDit. same as DVD movie factory but it doesnt support background menu music but can do picture galleries. and it converts audio to dolby digital! yay!

so is there a program that can do everything that everything that dvdit and moive factory can without being overly complacated? or is that asking for too much?

thanks in advance (and please hurry, my trial of DVDit will end in 10 days! )

    thanks for you help.

funny thing: i went to d/l the demo of it and looked at the comparison of DVD WS to DVDit and it said that DVDit does support background music... they just have to be in wav format! woo hoo, problem solved.

looks like DVDit can do it all! now, i gotta cough up another 300 bucks for this program....
