I extracted a .dat from a VCD using Isobuster, i then editied out some japenese subtitles from the video using logoaway with great success.
I tried saving the file as a plain .avi with no compression but i get an audio error saying there is not enough data.
AlSO, what setting would i use to save the final product in the same 500mb MPEG file as the original.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP

First, get yourself some software CODEC. This will decrease the size of the AVI a lot. Good ones are Hufyuv or PIC MjPEG. Save the avi to such a codec.
Second, get the latest VDub (this site does have the links to it), you should get at least version 1.4.5.
Third, keep in mind that if you've not NT (wNT4 or w2K) your avi's are limited to max 4Gb per file (but max 2Gb if you want to do something with it, like in most program's).
Fourth, if you're operating onto the avi (compressed or not compressed) you should set the setting in the video-menu of VDub to 'Direct Streaming' and not to some of the other 3 (re-)compression options.
That should do the thrick.. -
this is one place for filters

There is a better one, but I forget where it came from.
Remember you cannot use "direct stream" in Vdub when you use a filter, select a compression that matches the original.
