So i just wrote a huge explanation of what you have and what you can do> then when i hit submit it was gone!
    so here goes again

.bin file is a video file , signifies SVCD format. Hidden in that file is a MPEG file.

DVD players that support SVCD (see list at top of page using DVD PLAYERS when at home of vcdhelp.com) just burn it using methods in this forum and you can play it in your dvd that supports SVCD.

To get to onto a dvd, you have to excract the file, then do one of the following.
    1. Burn the mpeg directly to the dvd-r, and a dvd that supports direct mpeg playback will play it
    2. author it as a dvd image (see how to in other forums that explain this) and then you can watch it as a dvd.

Keep in mind that most SVCD's are 2 .bin files, so you will need to extract both and combine them together before you author as a DVD.

NOTE: DVD to DVD usually results in 2 disks. (Unless you downlplay the video) DVD to SVCD results in 2 disks (whihc are cd-r) and less expensive than DVD-r.

hope this helps you get on the correct path

oh, also download Video Lan (Videolan.org) and open the bin with VLC to verify that it is a valid file (you will be able to watch the movie with this program)

The first thing you will need to do is get the .mpeg file[s] out of the .bin file. The best program for that is VCDTools. Search Versiontracker for it, and it is free. You will want to use the .bin ripper.

Once you have your .mpeg files, provided that these are VCD MPEG-1 that yo uare trying to put onto DVD, please look at my reply to this thread as it is a 100% concise [to the best of my knowledge] for this purpose.

I hope that this helps you. If you do not have DVD Studio Pro, there are great alternatives at your disposal such as Sizzle and the greatest swiss-army-knife of video apps for any platform, ffmpeggX.

    lmk.
