  1. Hello guys.

I’m new to this forum. Just one question.
I just got my AIW 9700 pro and when I’m trying to capture from VCR I have no sound.
I can see and capture video with no problem, but no sound.
I have SB live 5.1 platinum.
I connect my VCR exactly the same way as recommended on ATI site

    http://www.ati.com/support/connectors/radeonaiw/connectradeonaiwvideoinput.html

But still have no luck. Do I miss anything? If someone also have AIW 9700 Pro, please help me.

    Sorry for my English.

    AKM74,

Although you probably would have found this in a search, or in your AIW manual...

I've got a good old trusty ATI AIW and if yours is the same as other models, it uses your sound card (onboard or slot) for capturing the sound. Make sure you have the cable (black one, not long purple one) attached to your AIW and the sound cable (from the AIW multi-cable plug) plugged into the sound-in port of your sound card or on-board sound, whichever you use.

This will have the sound from your AIW go to your sound card (or onboard sound) for capturing. Then when you setup your AIW, you choose which port (sound-in, mic-in...) to get your sound from.

Basically, if you get video and audio when watching TV or whatever, then you should be able to capture both.

    Hope it was this easy.....
    Have a good one,

attached to AIW input ? or output ? i use purple cable to attach my VCR video and R/L audio to "AIW input". If i will replace it with black cable, how to connect my VCR to it ?

i know i'm sound stupid, but i can't figurout it.

    AKM74,

Nope, seperate cable. Keep the purple one attached if you use that one for input. There should be another cable....

Well, looks like they've gone from the multi-cable to a single audio cable from the 9700 to the sound card. Says so right here in the addendum to the user manual :

    nice picture for you too...

  5. Thanks a lot neomaine, you are very helpful.

After all I have to only connect it internally, if I have ATI 9700 pro.

Strange, they didn’t mention it in manual which come with my card, and there is no “internal” cable in the box (even if I got retail version).
That what was confuses me before.

Thanks again, I will take care of it now.
