Like most I’ve been around the houses to get SVCD on to DVDR. I now have a nice process but have one further issue. I have 2 films (SVCD) each with 2 parts (800MB) - I get the mpgs DVD compliant (48 KHz audio, DVD resolution sequence headers). I then author with DVD movie factory 2 & burn ok in most cases. If the bitrate of the films are different however then I get sync problems. As DMF2 creates 1GB VOBS, I get 4 VOBs (3 * 1GB & 1 * 250MB approx). The bitrate of the first 2 VOBS are that of the first film & the last 2 VOBs are that of the last film. Part one of the second film spans the 2nd & 3rd VOB thus having an incorrect bitrate and so this file is out of sync. Note this is the only file which is out of sync & the original mpg and the DVD compliant one are ok. Has anyone got any solutions for this issue?

    Thank in advance.

Maybe if you patch the bitrate of the original SVCD-MPEG-files to one common bitrate (patching the entire file) your problem can be resolved.

I am doing this when I author DVB-satellite-recordings which have 480x576 resolution but 15 Mbit/s, which is nonsense as the peak-bit-rate is always below 9 Mbit/s (analysed from the video-stream using ReMPEG).

Schmendrick, tried it & still got the sync issue....

However have solved it. I have to forget DMF2 & use the InfoEdit/VobEdit method with different VOB IDs for each movie.

This gives 4 VOBs again but 2 for movie one and 2 for movie two, all with the correct bitrate (& so no sync issue). Only problem is i don't have menus...

  4. i'm having the exact same problem as you chrissyboy in that i can make vobs using ifoedit/vobedit perfect synch but no menus..........

    i really want a menu

    i just had an idea

what would happen if u made the vobs with ifoedit/vobedit then........

us smart ripper to rip the streams from the dvd..........

remux to mpeg (it would then be all 1 mpeg with 4xcdrs/2xmovies on it)

could u then use your proggy and make it dvd compliant?

then run it thru DVDM factory 2?

not sure how u can configure menus in dvdmf2 tho.

u can deffo set chapter points where u want i think.....u could set them at the start of each movie???

would love to try this m8...need ur proggy to try it properly tho Hint Hint

    cheers
