  2. Yes i have the same question.

I import alot DVD's from the UK, the problem is when my father wants to watch one of my movies he can't becouse he doesn't speak english. I recently found out their are some nice sites on the web offering a huge list of subtitles (srt-format).

Is their an easy and understandible way to import these subtitles in a DVD in a way this subtitle is selectable like on an original dvd. If it is possible I would prefere a way that works without re-encoding the dvd

  3. DVD Maestro.

You can import those subtitles in that program. Now the only problem you might encounter would be synchronization. I don't know how the srt files were created. Like if they have drop flag in them or not... If they do -- you will need a m2v with drop frame flag in it to get the subs to sync.

You can check out my guides and see why the drop flag video is needed. The guides aren't for subbing DVDs with homemade subs but you can get an idea on how to do it.

Many thanks for your help dude, I'll check your tutorials.

I was just wondering, is DVD Maestro still for sale and is it expensive?

  5. I don't think it's for sale anymore since Apply bought the company that made DVD Maestro. Ask your "friend" to loan you his/her copy of it.

There are some subtitle conversion programs that can help you convert the subtitles into IFOEdit usable ones. Check the tools section under subtitles, and also www.doom9.org has a couple.

Of course, you will need to rip the DVD and get to the individual streams to feed to IFOEdit. There is a good guide on how to do that in the guides section.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  7. Hi All,

I Also have the same problem. I prefer to solve this with IfoEdit.... Problem is that i cannot find any tool that can convert an .srt file into IfoEdit usable subtitle format (.idx/.sup). If you have a link to a tool that can do this, please let me know.
