Since yesterday I have a problem when I want the copy on-the-fly.

I already made a backup to DVD-R, but when I want to make another copy on-the-fly I get a message that it won't fit on a the disc. How can that be?

I tried RecordNow and Nero and tried DVD-R and DVD+RW discs.

    Any ideas on this?

PS: could this be something with the way it's connected to the IDE ports? (just an idea)

  2. I have seen this on a colleague's machine - we have no idea why this is the case, however we have a solution.

In our case, we solved it by by doing a disc copy where the writer was used for both reading the disc we wished to copy and writing the blank, and copying the files onto the hard disk in between.

We have not been able to work out why subsequent copies seem to be "larger" by about 20% or so, all we know is that they are if you do an on the fly copy. We were using a slightly less than up to date version of Nero and an A05.

If the contents of the disc only went say half way through the media, on the fly copies did physically take up a lot more space on the disc but worked perfectly - very odd ! However this is clearly no good for projects that go anywhere near the outer rim.

Try it by copying the disc onto your PC first and see how you go from there. And if anyone knows why this quirk happens, then please post back !

Funny thing is, I have a DVD-R with only Special Features on it.
It's about 2 GB and yet it won't copy on-the-fly.
"Please insert disc with sufficient disc space".

Is there anybody that can help?

  4. Have you tried copying it in the manner I described or not ?

If so, did you have the same problem ?
