  1. I downloaded the trial version of CCE 2.5. Got everything set up. Loaded my AVI in. Hit encode. It asked me if I wanted to save. I said yes and named it. It then says cant save ecl file, but starts encoding anyway. When it is finished I went to close CCE and it asked me if I wanted to save my project. I hit yes, named it, and again it comes back and says cant save ecl file then closes. It went through the encoding process but when it closed it didnt save my project anywhere. I know its a trial version but shouldnt I be able to at least test it out? Any help appreciated.

Why do you NEED to save the ECL file?

This only saves your project settings - the encoded output is always saved, regardless of whether you've saved the ECL or not.

Yes it is , But the ECl can be handy sometimes it saves all your template specific settings for that encode.

  11. Mr Grumpy you said the output file is always saved, where? When it gets done encoding it shuts off and doesnt save the new file anywhere that I can find. Thanks for the help.

If you add your file to cce, then right click it and go to edit

You get the template for that encode come up, If you look over to the bottom left theres a box that says Output files

Look down a bit from there and theres a box that says video files and you can select where you want to save it

if you dont select anywhere manually it will default to the same folder where you added your avi or avs script file from

It varies, depending on if you've changed the default output folder. If you haven't, I think it goes in the same folder as the input AVI/VDR/AVS file, otherwise it creates it with the same name as the AVI (with a .mpv/.mpa/.mpg suffix) in the output folder you specified as the default. You can change it for individual encodes if required.

When you've added a file to be encoded, if you double click on it to get the dialog box with the bitrate settings, etc - look in the output files section and you'll see where the encoded output goes.

Hope this makes sense and I hope you find your files

<edit> Ooops - Should learn to type faster

<edit> PS It always asks if you want to save the unsaved ECL file even after you've encoded.

PPS The templates can be used so that you can save common settings.
