how can i enable DMA in windows xp pro.....thanks

Right click on the 'My Computer' icon.
Select Properties.
Select the 'Hardware' tab.
Select 'Device Manager'.
Click on 'IDE controllers'.
Right-click on 'Primary IDE' and select properties.
In the 'Advanced Settings' section the transfer mode for each device should be set to 'DMA if possible'.
Do the same for 'Secondary IDE'.
If they are set to PIO and you change them to DMA you will need to reboot. -
If you don'r see the advanced settings icon you'll have to remove Intel Application Accelerator which is commonly installed on machines
