howdy all- i've been having problems with vcd. some vcd's that i burn play just fine in my dvd player. however, on some vcd's, the tv screen rolls over and over. i'm not burning them any differently. they are downloaded files so i can't tell what kind of encoding they are (pal or ntsc). the movies play fine on my computer, and i'm wasting lots of discs just to find out i cant' watch them on my dvd. can anyone help? thanks- mike

They are in PAL or NTSC. I have a NTSC television, so PAL doesn't work for me (rolling screen). I believe you can change between NTSC/PAL with some players and it converts the signal on-the-fly to the tv.

search for a software called bitrate viewer. that will tell you in much detail the aspects of the file(s). You could try http://www.divx-digest.com - I *believe* I gotmy copy there. If you are stuck, I will email it to you.
