popping in sound and no mpg2 video AIW 128 pro

I've just upgraded to an aiw 128 pro from an aiw pro. I get a popping every few seconds in the audio it captures. It isn't in the source. Also when I try to record mpeg2 it only records audio--no video. I am using mmc 6.3 that came with the card. I downloaded mmc 7.1 and it wouldn't initialize the tv. I've tried it with and without the purple cord that comes with it but it makes no difference. Anyone have any suggestions? My system is an intel celeron 850 mhz., 256m ram, and on board sound.
