    Something's wrong here: 12 gigs of AVI file for 2 hours means you've captured a screen size around 320x240 which is a VCD type of resolution. DVD is 720x480 and 12 gigs of avi would only give you approx 12 to 20 minutes of this type of resolution.
    He's using DV AVI which is 720x480 and about 12GB per hour, not uncompressed AVI.

    You may be right about the audio though since some programs may not let you use MP2 audio with NTSC. To get the audio down to a reasonable size and not have that problem save the audio to a seperate wav file and convert it to AC3.
