  3. Just be aware that the burner pictured in the ad isn't this years 4X DVR-105 model, it's last years 2X model. I just picked up the 4X model at Staples on sale a couple weeks ago for $249.99- two $50 mail-in rebates = $149.99. There are certainly better deals to be had, especially on last years merchandise.

  4. Hey Colt45.....you are incorrect on that statement. I just bought one yesterday and it is the 4x Cendyne (i.e Pioneer 105). You are correct in that the picture in the ad is the older model, but what they are offering is the 4x model.

    Actually, all I said was that the picture in the ad was last years model, that is true. I'm glad to hear that they really are selling the 105 model though.

  6. If you keep an eye out in circulars for OfficeMax or Staples or OfficeDepot or etc, you should find this drive on sale at least once a month. The price is usually in the $139-$174 range with the proper rebates and even a coupon if lucky.

    Yup, still have them. I just put a Cendyne 105 on hold at a local OfficeMax for $269-$50-$50=$169. Clerk said it was their last one and they'll be replacing them with Verbatims.

    Whatta ya think... Hang on to the Cendyne or see what the Verbatim is like? They didn't have the model of the Verbatim on hand. You have to think it'll be something comparable.

    Now to look for some media.....

    ====================

    Update: Had a bit of a letdown when I got to OfficMax. Went to the shelf to see what was available. All they had on display was the DVR04, 'Damn, the older 2x model'. Curse a little under my breath but still grabbed the ticket and headed to the service desk where they had put aside my drive. I told the counter guy that there was a drive for me set aside (I called earlier, only one left). He brings out the box. Its looks different than the ones on display...

    Sure enough its the DVR05! Yes...drop down US$219 ($269-$50 instant rebate) and get my mail-in rebate coupon for $50. Yup, it'll be $169 when all is said and done, and my wife's blessing to boot.

    Now to start all over in learning how to burn. I've been very happy with the VCDs I've created of the last 18months or so. Hopefully the learning curve isn't too steep. Looks like I entered about the right time though with all the discussions on DVD2ONE and Instant Copy. Now I can get all my TV episodes on a single disc.
    Have a good one,

    neomaine

  9. WARNING!!!! I went to my local OfficeMax and picked up one of these drives, took it home and to my surprise it was actually a LG CD-ROM. This was factory sealed, not a refurbished model. Thought I was just unlucky so I took it back, got a new one and this time I had a SAMSUNG CD-ROM. AHHHHHH!!!!! Wasn't willing to see if the third time was the charm. Got my money back and I'll wait for the next deal of the week. If you do get one, make sure you check it out in the store before you leave.

  10. Awesome deal here! I went to my Office Max and even though they did show the Cendyne DVR-104 drive in their circular, they really did have the Cendyne DVR-105 for only $219.99 up front plus a $50 Mail In Rebate = $169.99! This drive burns flawlessly for me with the latest Nero. Gotta love Cendyne making this possible. Get them while they last!!!

    I found the only one left in my area and had them reserve one. The box says it's a 104. Was it supposed to be a 105 unit? If so how should I go about getting the correct one now that the ad is not in circulation? It says 104 in the system profile as well. I thought I was getting a 4x burner, not the 2x drive that I already have

  13. Not much you can do except wait another month or two for the next round of sales (Will they do a raincheck???). You should check out all the stores in your area or internet as the next sale may be Staples or OfficeMax or someplace else??? Hopefully someone will post it here if the word gets out.

  14. Where are you guys getting the $50 coupons. I saw a thread where someone used two of the coupons and the mail in rebate and got the drive for around $110.
