  1. I have a problem. My friend has a movie on his computer that he got on a dataparty. The movie is on 4 VCD (I think. At least theres a dat file inside, and then it has to be a vcd?) images. I am not sure what type of image files they are on (The ecstention).

I asked him to burn the movie, cause he has a cd-burner, but he found out that each image was on 803 mb, and he couldn't burn them on 700 mb cd's. Then i started to wonder how he should burn the movie to me, and then i found this page.

Can anyone of you give me some help about this? I have looked a little around, and i have seen that it is possible to fit 800mb of VCD on a 700mb cd, but i don't know how i can do this.

Can anyone one of you tell me what i should do to burn this movie to VCD's that can be playes on standalone players, and how i should do it? It's 4 images, and i want to burn each of them on a cd. Do i need higher capacity disks? I saw a picture of a vcd image on the FAQ with 830 mb, so it has to be possible someway.

    Please help. PetterP

What program is he using to burn the image and how is he doing it? For Nero see: https://www.videohelp.com/nerobin.htm or try VCDEasy using this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/133785.php

The capacity listed on the labeling of CD's is "mode-1" (data) capacity. A 80 minute CD holds approx 700 mb "mode-1". VCDs and SVCDs are recorded "mode-2" That same 80 minute CD holds approx 800 mb when recorded "mode-2". An 803mb image should burn fine without using overburn.

I burn VCDs, CVDs and SVCDs all the time from 800 mb compliant files, onto 80 minute CDs.

If I'm not mistaken, limits are:

    for 74 min CD-R - 702MB
    for 80 min CD-R - 807MB

  4. Thank you! I shall get those cd's burnt as fast as i can (2x, 4x?

I have some more questions, if you could please answere these too, i'd be very happy.

    1. Is it possible to convert a vcd to DVD format, burn it on cd-r, and watch it in a DVD player?

    2. Is it a way to change the file size of a vcd movie without too much less video quality? I saw a guide to fit a DVD movie on one cd with converting it to (s)vcd, and burn it, so i wonder if it is a way to get the 4 cd's to 2-3 cd's? It's not very important to me, i just wonder if it is possible.

Anyway, thank you for your answers. PetterP
