When I try to convert an avi to mpg w/ TMPGEnc ver.j, I loose the video. I can open the mpg when finished the sound works fine, but have no picture. Please help.

I think, you have select Stream type - System (Audio only). Try Stream type - System (Video + Audio).

thanks, but I did have that option chosen thats why I can't figure it out whats wrong.

Can you play the file in media player with both video/sound?
When you preview the file in TMPGenc can you see the picture? For example, under source range.
Have your tried frameserving the file to TMPGenc with avisynth. I've had a few captured AVIs that played fine in media player but came up blank in TMPGenc. Framing serving with AVIsynth allowed TMPGenc to view them (have no idea why).

AVISource("d:\capture.avi" -
Whenever I try to open the file I created, it says... "AVISource: failed to decompress frame 0 (error -100)"
