well thank you very much expo.. you sitting there and pointing this out to kai (who has busted his ass on a LOT of software that he got nothing but complaints about from most of you ) and i had some plans for new things and developing upon old projects again but you just put the nail in the coffin... great job, very grown up of you.Originally Posted by expo

Expo, this is a great way to get ganged up on.
Kai and his crew are highly respected and appreciated in these forums and whether you are right or wrong, this was a very unconstructive comment. In a very large world us Mac guys need to stick together and this "what have you done for me today" kind of attitude will only splinter our community. I, for one, support ANY developer who writes code for the Mac and look forward to Kai's next endevour.
Lighten up a bit.
-The box said "Windows XP or better"... so I bought a Macintosh! -
Last nail in the coffin? Oh, c'mon . . . to let such a reject have this kind of power over your actions is nothing but gratification to him. Those weren't complaints, but feature requests and bug reportings, two very important parts of software developments taking place in quite the appropriate setting of a message board in which the developers are participating along with their users. If you want a more general feel for what the users thought of forty-two, you need only head over to its VersionTracker site and read every single comment, or just look at the 4 out of 5 star rating (very respectable). It's only natural that people who are having problems try to get them resolved in a forum where the ultimate sources of information (the devs) are participating. But this is just ridiculous. If you really were planning on creating more Mac softwares, it is foolish to let this kind of idiocy make you change your plans. Most Mac users were (are) very happy with the work you guys have done, though through laziness, lack of knowledge of this forum, or being too busy using your apps, did not feel compelled to post their satisfaction to this message board.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté." -
prove you're point? no you just proved my point.. YOU HAVE NO POINT. All you're doing is getting gratification out of the fact that you were "right" about something. I hope it makes you feel good about yourself to point out the shortcommings or mishaps of others. You didnt step on a sore toe at all, all you did was prove once again how ignorant the masses are. "we kindly asked the PC devs to give us dvd2one and we got it" ... uhm if you equate constant bitching and moaning and maybe a SHRED of constructive criticism asking someone to kindly do something then well it sounds like you might have what i call gwb syndrome.. a.k.a idioicy..people like you serve NO purpose in the community as a whole and would be better fit on the bottom of a spiked pit.

Calm down people.
After all the idea of this forums is not to bitch each other, but fo offer some help and support among us.
Regarding 42 I think Kai says it best when he says:
Forty-two works for the developers, for what the developers wanted it to do and be.
So should i ditch the other apps and the people working on them? NO WAY! They are trying hard and doing things that work for some people and we should be thankful for that. Who knows what else they can do if they stay motivated?
So keep up the good work guys!!
(and btw, even after reading all this posts and knowing that 42 would not work properly with PAL DVDs i decided to suport 42. It's not much but that was all i could give and that's my way of saying "some people apreciate your efforts".)

I cant' believe this thread is still going. I can't even extrapolate what exactly the argument is about anymore but I'll give it a shot.
42 was designed primarily to back up DVD's to DVD-R correct? Am I wrong. DVD2ONEX does the same thing sans ripping the dvd. So if someone likes and uses DVD2ONEX instead of 42 (made by honest hardworking mac developers) they are somehow unsupportive of mac developers. I believe it was hinted at in previous posts that DVD2ONEX ( or the future possibility of DVD2ONEX) would be(or is) inferior because of the process it uses to re-encode or transcode the video? Were the developers of 42 insulted because they were asked to possibly come up with a program similar to DVD2ONE because people weren't satisfied with 42. So could they make a similar program, but they wouldn't because of their beliefs that DVD2ONE was an inferior program?
Somebody please clarify the argument going on in this forum.
Uhhhmmm... maybe I'm a little off base, but this is my understanding of it if I am reading these posts correctly. -
ok everyone. Having been a user of a mac for a looooong time, and wanting something that i could "back-up" my dvd's with. I have to say that the problems I have with the programs that are developed for mac is that they are just too complicated to use, there's no real help for people who have problems with them. I was very excited to see that Kai, Bile, and who ever else was working on developing 42 before it was released. And then they released it, I tried it (or tried to try it) it didn't work. Then i tried to get help to find out why it wouldn't work, and the help that I recieved still was no help. That is where the core of the problem lies (partially).
NOW I DO NOT MEAN ANY OF THIS IN A NEGATIVE WAY EITHER!
You developers have a very big challenge, trying to please mac users will be very hard to do. And unfortunetely until we can get a program that is as easy to use and gives as good of results as DVD2ONEX, there will be questions. We all know its possible, and 42 has come close, but its still not "there".
