RecordNow Max STRANGE error

I have never had any problems with RecordNow Max before, but to day I got a strange error when I should burn a dvd, "Data Job untitled1 Terminatet with errors" . What do this mean?

If i renamed the VIDEO_TS folder to something els the error disappear, but then it's not a compatible DVD anymore.


I am very confused right now, so some help will be welcom.

I have had this problem before the way round is click tools,options,data disc and uncheck the box at the bottom that says recognise VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders.You should now be able to burn with no problems.

That error means that Record Now Max detected something in your files that threw it out of the DVD specification. You can go to Tools>Options>Data Disc and uncheck the 'Recognize the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders as per the DVD specifications'. but.....your DVD may not play in some setop DVD players then.

If you can elaborate on how you went about creating this DVD and what tools you used perhaps it would be easier to pinpoint.

I have noticed for me, when doing 1:1 DVD backups...if I do not include all the VOB's/IFO's/BUP's that were in the original, I get that error...ie, if you split a DVD-9 and put the extras on one disc and not the other. So, if possible put all the other non-main movie VOB'S,IFO'S, and BUP'S in the folder.

Oki, thanks for your tip spaceman it worked, but do this change affect the dvd or will it work fine?

I also wonder why I got this error, is there something wrong with the files I tried to burn, or what?

Don2050 i made the movie using Instant copy, but first I striped the streams only keept swedish sub and english ac3 sound!

Perhaps I maid something wrong in IFOedit!

If I strip the streams in IFOedit do i have to run IFO updated then? I have never used IFOedit for such things before so I maybe screw up something there!

I havn't had any problems playing them on my 2 set-top players or Ps2 & Xbox,with the box left unchecked.

I have had the same problem, it means that something is wrong in the file. I think it is just the way certain DVDs are structured. Whenever I get that error, I simply strip the movie again but use DVD2ONE in stead, it always fixes the bug.

Ive had that error with record now max a few times so i ditched it

I use prassi primo its virtualy identical and works every time backed up dvd's always work fine in my philips stand alone

@Spaceman....yeah it works still in most players i have tested...but not all. ie..my Toshiba SD-3800.

IFOEdit can cause problems with the pointers within the IFO's if you remove stuff, I have found it does not properly correct all the tables, which I believe is the error Record Now is picking up, it cannot find the other audio streams and subs referenced in the IFO...I am guessing that if you ripped the DVD again with all the audio streams and subs(basically everything in the original) you would not get the error.

I believe most newer players dont have a problem with this, thus you can get away with just unchecking the 'follow DVD spec' option in Record Now, finding a way to manually correct the IFOEdit pointers so Record Now doesnt report an error is one of my projects, but it may be more trouble than it's worth, hope I have success.

I have also had a problem with recordnow as it would not start recording a ripped version of Band of Brothers (disc 3). So I unchecked the 'Recognise VIDEO_TS folder..........etc' and it did record, but the disc is unplayable in both my Xbox as my PC. Really weird cause I did everything the same as for discs 1&2 ( 'Recognise ......' was enabled then) and they recorded and played just fine.

if you click the un-recognise option, your burned disc will be unplayable in 90% of players. Recordnow wont make your disc because something is wrong with the file. Some discs are set up that way to where it is a little more difficult to get ready to burn. I alwasy go with dvd2one after that and it works fine.

I have been having exactly the same problem lately. There were only a few of my DVDs that wouldn't burn. I came to this forum, and decided that I would follow this: go to Tools>Options>Data Disc and uncheck the 'Recognize the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders as per the DVD specifications'.

After I did this, my DVDs burned just fine, but, as was mentioned, it won't play on my dvd player.

Is there any other way of burning these DVDs so that they will play?

The process I used was to rip all of the files to my hard drive with SmartRipper. Then I used DVD2one to compress (I guess?) the DVD to my VIDEO_TS file. Then used RecordNow to burn it.

All of my other DVDs have burned flawless and painlessly (and the quality is great, too). I would really appreciate some help.

Oh, and where is the problem actually stemming from? I know that it has to be the fact that the DVDs are more protected, but which program is having the problem?

Three things to try:

Update RECORD NEW DX to RECORD NOW MAX if you havent

Use Prassi instead if it recognizes your drive

Use NERO in DVD VIDEO mode

I suggest # 3..if you can get NERO it seems to work better with ripped files ..thus
I use RECORD NOWMAX when I author,,
and NERO for maaximum compatibility when I re-author or rip

I get the same problem every time i use ifo once i run it through dvd2one no problem

I think RecordNow reads the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and verifies that all the relevant VOB files and IFO files are present. If there is a discrepancy then it errors out. The "dvd speciifcation" off option disables the checking but does not create DVD specification compliant disc.

This happened to me when I would make DVD-9 to 2 DVD-5 backups. Then I realized the problem. My workaround was to make sure that dummy VOB files of zero length replaced the actual VOB files that are on the other disk. I know it sounds effed up but trust me it works fine. I have backed up 80 DVD's using this approach. And yes they do play on several types of DVD player.

All I can tell you is the method that works for me...

I back up a DVD-9 to 2 DVD-5s per the guidelines (see faqs at doom9 etc) using smartripper (file mode) and ifoedit (split to 2 disks option). Then the extras etc need to be spread over the two DVD-5s. This is the place where an inconsistency can occur because the IFO file on the DVD-5 disk 1 still states that a VOB file is present on the disk, even though it might be on the other DVD-5 disk 2. This is because the IFO file has all the references for the original DVD-9 i.e. when all the files were on one disk. This is no longer the case because the movie has been spilt over 2 disks and the extras have been as well.

So, we need to make sure that BOTH DVD-5 disks have the same files as the original DVD-9. This is done by creating a dummy VOB file of zero length and replacing the missing VOB file. Do this by creating a text file and renaming it. IF VOB file A only resides on DVD-5 disk 1 then make sure a dummy VOB file with the same name exists on DVD-5 disk 2. Note: You should only apply this to VOB files. IFO and BUP files are small enough to be copied to both DVD-5 disks.

I know the above might sound bizarre but as I mentioned earlier this does resolve the RecordNow Max problem.
