Why won't Nero recognize my dru500ax?

I posted a similar message earlier this week, but still pulling my hair out over it... No help from nero.com, and I still cannot figure out why it will identify the drive, but it won't see it as a valid write source....Nero only sees "Image Recorder" (hdd)

I have Nero 5.5.5.6 and just got the dru500ax last week.

I tried uninstalling, got a critical error doing that, as other forum posts have described;
Is this version of Nero the problem? Anyone out there had this problem and resolved it?

Well, yeah, but I hate to shell out 50bucks if I don't have to. But I'm starting to think that's the only way I'll be able to continue to use Nero.

Have you thought about downloading the latest file for supported recorders at the Nero website? This may solve your problem. It's worth a try and may save you $50.
