kazaa or edonkey2000 for downloads (many others, too). I like ULead Movie Factory 2 for newbie dvd authoring. Pinnacle Studio 8 is also decent for movie authoring.

The freeware stuff works, but it's not as easy to use as the "all in one" packages, like MF2 and Studio 8. (All IMO, of course.)

  6. Heres what you do...

    1. Download a movie of your choice
    2. Download TMPEG from the TOOLS section
    3. You might also have to download a DIVX CODEC in the TOOLS section also.
    3. Visit the CONVERT SECTION on the LEFT.
    4. Scrool down to that section that says "How to convert to VCD or XVCD MPEG1"
    5. Click on CONVERT TO VCD WITH TMPGEnc
    6. Follow the steps, its actually pretty easy, click on (in TMPGE) BROWSE, load your movie, in SETTINGS change (if not changed already) to 352x240pixles that will give you a VCD movie you can view on your DVD/TV. Then START

EDIT: Depending on the size (in size I mean pixles) in converting it to mpg It can take anywhere from 20min for a 40 min movie, to an hour or two for a 2hour movie. It goes really fast for me since I have a P4 w/2.4Ghz, 1Gig of memory, etc, etc...

  7. I am about to pull my friggin hair out. I read the easy how to stuff for newbies. I downloaded all the necessary files and now VCDeasy says I don't have WNASPI32.DLL driver. So I dl'd it and it still ain't working. Will someone help me out before I shoot myself.

  8. I had that exact same problem with VCDEasy where the burning function of the program won't work because it doesn't have the right ASPI driver. Luckily you can solve this problem for free. Here's how you do it:

    1. Firstly, download the ASPI driver from here: http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?cat=/Product/EZ-SCSI_5.0&fi...key=aspi32.exe

    2. Now Adaptec who make the driver don't want this driver to be free unless you have an Adaptec card in your computer, so this program checks for a card in your computer. Luckily you can bypass this check, so it doesn't matter if you don't have an adaptec card. Here's how you do it.

    3. In Windows, click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add New Hardware.

    4. Click Next.

    5. Select No the device is not in the list, then click next.

    6. Select: No I want to select the hardware from a list, then click next.

    7. Select SCSI Controllers, then click next.

    8. From the list on the left select Adaptec, then select any device from the list on the right. Then click next.

    9. Click next, then click Finish. Restart the computer when asked to.

    10. Run the file you downloaded from the link above and it should install successfully.

    11. Run VCDEasy and you should now be able to burn your movies to VCD. Please email me and tell me if this works or not - it worked for me.

I would never recommend using Kazaa for downloading ANYTHING...its FULL of spyware and adware...use Kazaalite instead!
