Make sure in the DVD2AVI menus, under AUDIO, you select AUDIO | TRACK NUMBER | TRACK 1
This is usually the track you want. For AUDIO | CHANNEL FORMAT, select 'Auto Select'. Under AUDIO | DOLBY DIGITAL, select 'DEMUX' if you want AC3/MP2, or select DECODE if you want to resample you output audio from 48Khz to 44.1Khz (this option is also under the AUDIO menu).

You can select FILE | SAVE PROJECT to quickly generate your audio file, and a D2V file. This way, you won't have to save your AVI again.
