DVD2ONE & VirtualPC

So I keep reading reports that a couple people have actually managed to get DVD2ONE working under VPC. Has anyone successfully done this?

I have VPC 6.01 / WinXP and DVD2ONE 1.02, but it just dies with an error on when I try to run it.

jbcandkc I do not think Hacking a peace of software or your OS is wrong if your trying to get a peace of software to work. It's more like a patch. Oh yah I forgot you MAC guy's do not know what patch's are LOL. Windows people Hack the registry all the time. They even tell you how to hack the registry on TECHTV.COM

I wasn't implying that hacking a PIECE of software or OS is wrong. I was only telling timbo that the answers he was looking for wouldn't be found here because any discussion of hackz, warez, etc. will result in a locked thread. Oh yah I forgot you PC guys don't read the forum rules.

jbcandkc hacking is not wearz. In some way's getting DVD2ONE to work on a MAC is not wearz. Now when VirtualPC find out how to get DVD2ONE to work is that hacking? I would say no. Hacking is when you try to break in to other PC or server that you should not be in wearz is when you download software that you should be paying for also MP3's are wearz you should know that very well I bet you have a IPOD LOL. All joking aside. But getting DVD2ONE to run on a MAC is more like a patch or a emulator. Also would you say DVD2SVCD is hacking CCE to get CCE to run under there software or DVD2DVD-R? If you payed for your MAC and you payed for VirtualPC and you payed for DVD2ONE you can play around with your OS or another program to get it to run. look I'm not trying to start a fight or any thing. And I do know the rule's of this furom just look at my post you will see I have been around a long time. All i'm trying to do is help out you MAC guy's also who care's if you have a PC or MAC as long as you ge the job done. And there are alot of thing better in the PC world then the MAC world and there are alot of thing in the MAC world that are better in the PC world and there are alot of thing better In Linux and UNIX world. that's not exactly correct. The problem with DVD2one and Virtual PC is the registration window, if you can get past that it works fine. In fact, I've gotten DVD2one to work with two old emulators in Mac OS X Classic mode running Win95 and Win98se on a FIVE year old Laptop It works much better on my new dual processor Mac but these OLD emulators were not meant to run in Classic. The programs have numerous problems but still manage to encode a 2 hr DVD in 80 mins. These old programs were meant to run in OS 9, but the new Macs won't boot to OS 9. Not to mention the fact that these emulators have been discontinued and very few people have them. Virtual PC runs natively in OS X but DVD2one errors out at the registration window It shouldn't be very difficult to correct this problem in Virtual PC... PLEASE Rene, fix this problem

I think it would be a good idea to email Virtual PC to fix the problem and give them this error message

i've read posts of people having great success using dvd2one under virtual pc, tho i have not given it a try...and on the side, a tech magazine (can't remember which one) did a survey about 2 months ago dealing with mac and pc users...and just as they thought, people who use macs are overall smarter than pc users..and spiderman's posts just prove that it holds true ...and mac os is too advanced (and too well organized) to not need a registry...too bad techtv couldn't provide a registry hack to stop the blue screen of death, heh ...good thing xp came out for you bill gates' fans...and that's my lame online argument for ya

'getting it to work' in VPC involves removing/circumventing the software's registration scheme, hence hacking, hence warez.

The publishers are aware of this issue.

I appreciate what you're doing, but, 'Preaching to the choir' comes to mind. I posted my findings here long before I went to DVD2one's forum This is where I read about 'others', DVD2one, and VPC. My success with Softwindows and RealPC will not help many people here as you cannot acquire these programs now. That post you're pasting was an attempt to convince Rene to fix the problem in DVD2one.

What would be great is if you could help convince Rene to make the VPC fix, or better yet, release a Mac OS X version! There is a thread over there now asking just that, " DVD2one for Mac OS X? ". I was saving MY post in that thread for when the thread drops down the board. What we need is for those few hundred people that have viewed this thread to go post at DVD2one! Have a good one.

As Tugboat said yesterday, these two emulators are Softwindows and RealPC, now discontinued. I just want to add another emulator to the list, under which the trial version of DVD2one seems to work fine: Blue Label. I said «seems» because you cannot expect to use it because of the limitations of the emulator (no shared folder, no HD greater than 500mb). The fact is that DVD2one doesn't crash at start-up under this emulator. So, about the problems encountered when trying to run DVD2one under VPC, it seems well that VPC is the culprit and not DVD2one.
