I just recently bought an ASUS 8200 Geoforce 3 Deluxe with the VIVO connection and tried my hand at a little video capturing using the well laid out instuctions here on this site. I recorded a concert on DirecTV using the latest version of Virtual Dub under Win98SE with great success. I recorded using the HUFFYUV compression and turned on the Multisegment option and ended up with 8 2GB parts. I dual boot between XP and 98 so I used VirtualDub to combine all the AVI's into one large AVI file onto my NTFS partition. The new combined AVI file plays back fine with no loss in video or audio. Upon launching TMPGEnc to change the AVI to an MPEG I can sucessfully encode the whole thing till the end BUT upon playback of the MPEG I lose audio after 1 min 42 seconds. The video is great otherwise. Any ideas why I would lose audio like that in the transfer? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

  2. Try checking if TMPGEnc doesn't do a compression of the sound.
